Terry K. Griner Terry K. Griner, 48, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died suddenly Tuesday, May 30, 2006. He was born on Dec. 11, 1957, in Adel to Arnold and Kate Griner, but he spent his youth in Nashville. He joined the United States Army in 1976 and served his country with great pride for 20 years. During that time he served in the Gulf War and retired as a staff sergeant in 1995. In 1998, Terry relocated to Port Charlotte with his wife, Leslie, and their children. He also was a member of the VFW and an assistant Little League coach to his son Jacob'’s team in Port Charlotte. Terry loved sports and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and was on many softball teams through the years. He also enjoyed golf and fishing and, most of all, taking adventures with his family. Terry is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Leslie, and their six children, Diana of Port Charlotte, Fla., Heather of Gainesville, Fla., Melissa of Andrews AFB, Md., Samantha of Port Charlotte, Fla., Daniel of Augusta and Jacob of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and by his grandchildren, Patrick and Jocelynn, his mother, Mrs. Loretha Griner of Nashville; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Gladys Maus of Coconut Grove, Fla.; his brother, Greg Griner and wife Darlene of Perry; his sister, Kathy Butler and husband Stanley of Nashville; sister, Shirley Rowland and her husband Dwayne of Dothan, Ala.; aunt, Janice Bridges of Nashville; cousin, Tony Kirk and his wife Karol of Nashville; sister-in-law, Wendy Maus of Port Charlotte, Fla.; sister-in-law, Karen Maus of Port Charlotte, Fla.; brother-in-law, David Maus of Port Charlotte, Fla. Terry is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and other members of his large family and friends. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Arnold S. Griner Jr., his mother, Ivor Kate Griner; his sister Sharon L. Rutherford; his father-in-law, Edgar W. Maus and his brother-in-law, Edgar W. Maus Jr. Terry was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed. But most of all, Terry was a man that always put his family first. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, Fla.
