He was born on Dec. 27, 1937, in Berrien County to the late Franklin Pierce and Ruby Harrell Griner. He was a retired farmer and had also been associated with t the U.S. Postal Service and DeKalb Seed Co. and was a member of Lakeland United M Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Corbitt Griner of Nashville; daughter, Catherine Griner, Nashville; son, Dr. Brian (Pam) Griner, Valdosta; and two granddaughters, Louise Griner, Oxford, Miss., and Carolyn Elsie Griner of V Valdosta. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, in the chapel of Lovein Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Wright and the Rev. Willie Heath of officiating. Lloyd Shaw sang "Beulah Land" and "How Great Thou Art," ac accompanied by Margaret Ann Shaw. "Go Rest High on That Mountain" was played on CD CD, and the congregation sang "Amazing Grace." Interment will be in Westview Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Larry Mathis, Bruce Mathis, Steve Osborne, Brion A Akins, Dr. Donnie Nash, Ricky Boyd. Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Griner, Jerry Smith, Smokey Day, Roy James, Troy Griner, Sonny Cowart, Louis Chester, Roy Ray, Donald Back, D.E. Moore.
