She was born September 1, 1930 to the late George Franklin and Linnie Irene R Ritch Mercer. Survivors include her sisters, Hazel Jeanette Gandy of Illinois and Myrtle Gandy of Sparks; five grandchildren, Jennifer Gibbs of Sparks, Holly Spires of Alapaha, Cheryl Webb of Adel, Bonnie Boyd of Nashville, Wilma Scott of Virginia; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler Garren, Jaden Rice, Dylan Walker, Dalton Wood, William Webb, Nicole Riggins, Lamar Boyd, Kimberly Boyd, Victoria Wilkins; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Griner, Sr.; one son, Jerry Lamar Spires; three brothers, James Austin Mercer, Franklin Dennis Mercer, Buck Murray; sister, Lucille Summerford; an infant granddaughter. Funeral services were held February 19 at Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie Hinson officiating. Music selections included "Hallelujah Square," "Go Rest High on That Mountain," and "I Want us to Be Together in Heaven." Interment followed in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tyler Garren, Austin Southerland, Dalton Wood, Bruce Gandy, D Dylan Walker, Lamar Boyd. Purvis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
