Born May 17, 1928, in Orange Co., FL, to the late Shafter and Lillian Randall Griner, he was a retired mechanic, Army veteran of WWII, 11th Airborne Division, member of VFW, and Nashville First Baptist Church and Fellowship Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, Doris Hendley Griner of Nashville; son, Phillip (Janet) Griner, Warner Robins; step-son, Bruce Bailey, Valdosta; three step- daughters, Pam McMillan, Nashville, Cynthia Cooney, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Deborah Brewer, Warner Robins; two sisters, Grace Avera, Nashville, Gertrude Valenti, Tampa, FL; two grandchildren, Wade (Andrea) Griner, Warner Robins; Kellie (Jeff) Hibbits, McDonough; several step-grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. August 9 in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Southerland officiating. "Amazing Grace" was played on CD, Barry Spence sang "Great is Thy Faithfulness," accompanied by Judy Griffin, pianist. Interment was in Long Bridge Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Wade Griner, Chris Avera, Jeff Hibbitts, James Griner, Don Chivers, Russell Nix, Tommy Walenti, Bruce Bailey. Love in Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
