Born in Ray City on Dec. 1, 1932, to the late James and Lillie Grissett, he wa was an excellent student attending North Georgia Military College for two ye years. He then transferred to and received his Bachelor of Science in Me Mechanical Engineering in 1958 from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He we went on to become a professional engineer, beginning his career at Lazenby and Bo Borum. He then joined Cecil B. Day Investment Company, where he served as Vice Pr Presiden of Construction and Development until retirement. He was a member of th the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers, Florida Society of Professional En Engineers and ASHRAE. He was also a longtime member of Dunwoody Baptist Church and was a loving and d devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Greta Grissett; son and daughter-in-law, James, III, law, James, III, “Jim” and Jude Grissett; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Tim Williams; son, Mark Grissett; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Kevin Kee Keeton; grandchildren, Veronica Grissett, James Grissett, IV, Lamar Williams, Mar Marie Williams, Benjamin Williams, Barrett Williams, Christian Keeton, Matthew Kee Keeton. All children and grandchildren live in the Atlanta area. He is also sur survived by his siblings, Ann Weinaug of Jacksonville, FL, Elinor Hallman of Mar Mary Esther, FL, Gloria Buntin of St. Simons Island and Steve Grissett of Rome. A private graveside service was held September 23 at Arlington Memorial Park. Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory of Roswell was in charge of a arrangements.
