Ruby Guthrie, 90, of Nashville, Ga., passed away early Saturday morning 
November 29, 2008, in the Berrien Nursing Center in Nashville following a 
lengthy illness. She was born January 1, 1918, to the late William Leonard and 
Mattie Gaskins Rowan in Berrien County, Ga., where she lived all her life. She 
was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Robert Guthrie Sr., two sons, 
Jonathan Ruel Guthrie and Roy Robert Guthrie Jr. She was Holiness Baptist by 
faith. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Chambers, Nashville; sons, Phillip 
A. Guthrie, Nashville, Harry Guthrie, Marietta, Fla., Stephen Guthrie, 
Middleburg, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-
grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 
at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, in the Lakeland chapel of Music Funeral 
Services with burial in Guthrie Cemetery in Berrien County, Ga. The family 
will receive friends between 6-8 p.m.Sunday at the funeral home.
