 Dewey Lee Hand, 83, of Nashville, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2009 
at Berrien Nursing Center. He was born August 8, 1926 in Jeff Davis County to 
the last William Jasper Hand and the late Edna Yawn. Mr. Hand was a retired 
public accountant and the former alderman and mayor for the City of Nashville. 
He was also a World War II and Korean War Army veteran, a Mason with the 
Duncan Lodge 234 F and AM and a member of the Nashville Post V.F.W. and 
American Legion. He was a member of Nashville First Baptist Church. Mr. Hand 
was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Smith Hand, who died in 1991.He is 
survived by two sons, Dr. Donnie Hand (Wadeen) of Nashville and Billy Hand of 
Crawfordville, Fla.; one daughter, Barbara Starling (Jay) of Nashville; four 
grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 
11 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home, the 
Rev. Junior Swain officiating. Interment will take place at Westview Cemetery. 
Visitation is Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lovein Funeral Home. Memorials are 
requested to the Berrien Health Advocates. 
 Active pallbearers were Wes Hand, Wade Hand, Ryan Hand, Dennis Smith, Terry 
Smith, Matthew Starling.
 Honorary pallbearers were Junior Watts, Johnny Hall, Earl Smith, Brad McCall, 
Bill Perry.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
