Born in Berrien County on Sept. 18, 1931, to the late John E. Harper and Flora Belle McMillan, Mr. Harper was a retired farmer and member of Oakey Grove Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Browning Harper of the West Berrien Community; one daughter, Elaine Wood of Lexington, S.C.; two sons, Darrell and Susan Harper and Chris and Theresa Harper, all of the West Berrien Community; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ellendor Harper, Yvonne Harper, Johnnie Fife, and Elma Barber; and by a grandson, John David Wood, who died in 1995. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Elder Charles Tyson and the Rev. Ken Potts officiating. Burial will follow in Oakey Grove Cemetery.
