Born November 30, 1925 in Berrien County to the late John and Mary Crosby Harper, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Rowetown Missionary Baptist Church. Survived by his wife, Nita Bowen Harper of Nashville; three daughters, Juanita Terrell and Alveta (Greg) Vickers, both of Nashville and Christine (Ed) Hammock of Sylvester, one son, Laster (Denise) Harper of Lakeland; one brother, Riley Harper of Tifton; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, John Harper and Mary Crosby, four brothers, Jesse, Willie, Johnny and Mack Harper and two sisters, Ludelle Fogarty and Maude Rowe. Funeral services were held May 30 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Junior Swain and Johnny Guy officiating. The Suggs Family sang "Go Rest High on that Mountain" and "I Want Us To Be Together in Heaven" and Junior and Bell Palmer sang "I'll Fly Away." Interment was in Nashville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Homer Lang, Melvin Blount, Jimmy Lane, J.W. Harper, Johnny Harper, Jimmy Royals. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
