The late Shellie and Mittie McMillan Harper were the parents of Mr. Harper who was born in Berrien county on Feb. 24, 1933. A retired owner of Southern Irrigation Company, he was an army veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of the Nashville VFW and American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Nix Harper of Nashville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Teresa Harper, Vanessa and Derwin Conley and Silva Harper, all of Nashville; a step daughter, Cindy Geiger of Fargo; a step son, Brian Giddens of Anniston, Ala.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Jimmy Gaskins of Alapaha and Jean and Buck Bennett of Adel and six grandchildren, Melissa Webb, Shellie Tracy, Megan Stone, Ashlie Conley, Jarrett Giddens and Chelsey Mathis. Miranda Marie Webb, his granddaughter, preceded him in death. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2005 with the Elder Robert Conner and the Rev. J.W. Dukes III officiating. Deborah Boyd sang "Amazing Grace" and "Where We'll Never Grow Old." His place of interment will be Westview Cemetery and visitation will be today after 2 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. at Lovein Funeral Home. — Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
