 Myrtle Harper, 76, of Alapaha, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at Tift Regional 
Medical Center. 

 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Pine Ridge Missionary 
Baptist Church. The Rev. Tony Roberts, the Rev. Foy King and the Rev. Jackie 
Connell will officiate. The Paffords and New Tradition provided selected music, 
accompanied by Linda Hall, pianist. Entombment will follow at the Tift Memorial 
Gardens Mausoleum. 

 Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. today at Lovein Funeral Home in 
Nashville, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 tonight. 

 Active pallbearers were Ronald Harbin, Robert Harbin, Tim Gray, Gary Spears, 
Joe Wayne Burns, Dwain Steverson.

 Honorary pallbearers were retired teachers from the former Alapaha Elementary 
School.

 Born Nov. 1, 1928, in Berrien County, Mrs. Harper was the daughter of William 
Calvin "“John"” Burns and Pollie Boykin, both deceased. She was also
preceded in 
death by her husband, Eston Harper, who died in 1999; one brother, Veston 
Burns; and one sister, Gladys Trowell. 

 She was a homemaker and retired teacher with 33 years’ service. 

 Mrs. Harper is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Myron and 
Darlene Harper of Alapaha and Damon and Lois Harper of Tifton; four 
grandchildren, April and Tyler Lee of Cairo, Darren Harper of Brunswick, Tad 
Harper of Tifton and Ashley Harper and fiance Wes Daniel of Valdosta; two great-
grandchildren, Taylor and Harper Lee; and two brothers, Oscar Burns of Lake 
City, Fla., and Joe Burns of Tifton. 

 Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
