Harris Died Last Saturday Mr. Joe L. Harris of Route 2, Alapaha, died at the home of his son, A.R. Harris, seven miles north of Nashville on Saturday afternoon, April 23 at 6:30 o’clock. He had been ill only a week. His death was attributed to heart trouble. Funeral services were held at the Empire Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Rev. A.H. Giddens, pastor of the Nashville Baptist Church, conducted the services. Interment was in the Empire cemetery. Pall-bearers were six grandsons: Charles Connell, Milton Harris, Hilton Roberts, Alvin Ray, Shelby Harper, and Lester Warren. Mr. Harris was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Harris of Ware County. He was born in Clinch County on August 17, 1857. For the past eight years he had made his home in Berrien County where he was well known, loved and respected. At the time of his death he was 80 years of age. He was preceded in death four years ago by his wife, the former Miss Betty Jane Bradford. Mr. Harris was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by three sons and two daughters: Archie Harris and Charlton Harris of Nashville, Arlie Harris, of Alapaha; Mrs. J.H. Warren, of Nashville; and Mrs. T.F. Ray, of Ray City.
