Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017, at New Griffin Baptist Church, in Berrien County, GA, with the Rev. Sim Youngblood officiating. Interment will follow in the Brogdon Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. , at the funeral home in Ocilla. Mrs. Heath was born October 31, 1936, at Rock Lake, Berrien County, GA, to the late Otis & Blannie Harper Metts. She attended Alapaha High School and graduated from Enigma High School, due to the tornado in 1952, that destroyed the Alapaha School. Mrs. Heath was a homemaker, piano teach, bookkeeper and office manager. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a former employee of Alapaha Elementary School, C.M. Dixon & Sons, Inc., Ferrel;l Gas, Inc. and The Paulk Funeral Home. Mrs. Heath was a member of New Griffin Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher for over 25 years, the church clerk for over 30 years, church pianist, Vacation Bible School teacher and a member of the Women's mission group. She is survived by her husband b y her husband of 62 years, Thomas E. Heath of Berrien County; children and their spouses, Pamela Jo Browning & Mike of Perry, Michael Thomas Heath & Gail of Tifton and Ellyn Heath Godwin & Larry of Valdosta; eight grandchildren, Stuart Sims & Sandy, Cliff Sims & Sharon, Matthew Godwin, Laryn Godwin, Charlea Justice, Doug Justice, Willis Justice and Chad Hortman; great-grandchildren, Sylar Sims, Abby Sims and Asia Hortman; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma M. Klages, Elsie M. Crawley, Emogene M. Martin and Sandra Ann M. Bock; brother, Autrey Metts and her grandparents, Moses & Mary Jane H. Metts and Richard & Mattie R. Harper. Paul Funeral Home, Ocilla, is in chare of arrangements.
