Hendley, 76, of Nashville died December 2, 2005 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. He was born July 9, 1929 in Berrien County to the late Daniel W. and Ollie Lee Green Hendley. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy, he served as a pastor for 30 years and was a member of Nashville First Baptist Church. He worked for Teamway Builders building churches in many states. He served as chaplain in the Georgia State Defense Force with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Survivors include his wife, Velva Allen Hendley of Nashville; daughter, Sharon Tillman of Lakeland; two sons, David Hendley of Lakeland and Jonathan Hendley of Hendersonville, TN; adopted children, Skip and Leora Moyer of Kathleen; three brothers, Howell Hendley and Hillman Hendley, both of Valdosta, Bobby Jack Hendley of Nashville; three sisters, Betty Lou Hendley of Alexandria, VA, Annie Ruth Powers of Valdosta, Regina Spray of Nashville; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held December 4 at 3 p.m. in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services. Interment was in Hendley Memorial Cemetery.
