A native of Nashville, growing up there, he lived in Alma for many years before moving to Vidalia in 1970. He retired in 2000 after 35 years at Pennington Seed and was the recipient of numerous awards within the company. He wa was a member of First United methodist Church of Vidalia and enjoyed sports, in including the Atlanta Braves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie an and Lottie Roberts Hendley. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie T. Hendley of Vidalia; five children, Don H Hendley and wife, Darleen, Pam Primeau of Valdosta, Candace Lea Barber and h husband Lewis of Greenville, SC, Alex Blackshear Greenway, Jr., of Vidalia, D Darrin Beuman Hendley and wife, Rita of Prosper, TX; six sisters, Elsie, Hilda, E Eula Mae, Doris, Carolyn, Hilda Jean and Elnita; ten grandchildren, two great g grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Don Moye officiating. Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
