Born Feb. 11, 1909, in Berrien County to the late W.E. and Effie Jane McNabb Clanton, she was a homemaker and member of Flat Creek Church. She was the widow of Willie “Bill” Hewitt who died in 1972. She was preceded in death by a son-in- law, J.P. Sutton, three sisters, Ruby Langley, Verdie Rice, and Thelma Griner; six brothers, Clarence, Floyd, Daniel, G.H., William “Duck,” and Gene Clanton. Survivors include a daughter, Letha Sutton of Nashville; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services were held March 9 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating. Interment was in Long Bridge Cemetery. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
