A lifelong resident of Thomas County, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Williams. She was an active member of the community, working at Park’s Bakery in downtown Thomasville as a young lady during WWII. She was later a founder and co-owner of The Surrey, a dress shop on Broad Street. She married Edwin Forrest Horne, Jr., on New Year’s Eve in 1950, and was his faithful wife for 59 years. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2009, She was a wonderful mother and a loving friend to many people. As a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville, she enjoyed keeping the newborn babies in the nursey every Sunday for many years. She was also a member of WMU-#4 Circle a and the Ginger Griffin Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Thomasville Junior Service League, a yearly participant in the annual Follies and enjoyed modeling the latest fashions for Neel’s Department Store. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Archbold H Hospital for many years. In her free time, she loved spending time with her f family and especially fishing and enjoying nature. She had a special talent for b being able to call wild turkeys. She treasured the time she spent with her only g grandson, Will. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy H. Palmer and Libbi H. and Bill Howell, all of Thomasville and Peggy H. and Doug Gaskins of Nashville; grandson, Will Palmer (Morgan) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL., great-grandson, Edwin Ford Fordham Palmer of Santa Rosa Beach; brother, Billy Williams of Thomasville, sist sister, Anne Owens. Funeral services were held Jan. 11 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Cha Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Milton C. Gardner and Dr. Dan Spencer officiating. Interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Doug Gaskins, Bill Howell, Will Palmer, Willis Palmer, R Richard hunsucker, Till Davis. Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home of Thomasville was in charge of arrangements.
