She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Pauline Cornelius, and her beloved husband, Austin Jeffords. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother and homemaker and an active member of First Baptist Church for a number of years after she and Austin moved back to their hometown of Nashville following 30 years in Jacksonville, FL, where he was employed by Greyhound. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving children, Joyce Manson (Andy), Orange Park, FL, Iris Mitchell (Bob), Garland, Texas; Dan Jeffords (Ursula), Athens; and Raymond Jeffords, Jacksonville; her grandchildren, Mitch Jeffords, Brunswick; Chip (Maribel) and Jeffrey Mitchell, Garland; Mathew Jeffords (Cara), Florence, SC, Travis Jeffords (Meghan) and Ashley Jeffords, Jacksonville and her great-grandchildren, Kevin Jeffords, Jacksonville, Natalie Mitchell, Garland; and Eli, Lena Rose and Greta Jeffords, Florence. She also leaves her dearly loved eight brothers and four sisters, Clarence Cornelius, Dorothy Giddens, Earl Cornelius, Rudolph Cornelius, Donald Cornelius, and Sue Lasseter all of Nashville; Maxine Tatum, Miami, FL, Faye Simpson, Jacksonville, Harry Cornelius and David Cornelius, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Bennie Cornelius, Folkston, and Robert Cornelius, Thomasville, as well as a large extended family and many dear friends including Hank Nix and family and Kathy Turner of Nashville. Funeral services were held on July 19 at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Nashville with the Revs. Stanley Luke, Rick Williams and Billy Southerland officiating. Kay Spence sang "What a Day That Will Be." The congregation sang "Amazing Grace" and family members sang "How Great Thou Art" and "It is Well With My Soul." Barry Spence, pianist, served as accompanist. Interment was in Long Bridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leila's five grandsons and eldest great grandson. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
