He was a member of Concord Primitive Baptist Church. He retired from the Maintenance Department with Amoco Fabrics after 23 years and then worked with Miller Brewing Company for 12 years before retiring due to health reasons. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Armentrout and Maydell Wilkerson, and two brothers, James Jernigan and Jody Jernigan. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Judy Jernigan, Nashville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patty and Matt Webb and Brandi Jernigan, all of Nashville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Timmy and Angie Jernigan of Nashville and Dave and Angie Griffin of Pound, VA; six grandchildren, Kansas "Sugar Baby" Jernigan, Brittney Jernigan, Timothy Jernigan, Daniel Jernigan, Cody Griffin and Kristy Griffin; one great-grandson, Troy Pearson; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Shivers of Valdosta, Linda and Dennis Ellis of Acworth, and Geneva Stewart of Madison, FL; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Jernigan of Valdosta, Timmy and Mildred Jernigan of Rochelle, Charles and Vickie Jernigan of Lake Park, Gene and Barbara Jernigan of Piedmont, SC; extended family member, Cyndi Warran of Ocilla; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held March 6 at 11 a.m. at Concord Primitive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery. Music Funeral Services of Valdosta is in charge of arrangements.
