Jones Funeral services were held Monday in the Enigma Baptist Church for Otis Waldo Jones, principal of the Enigma public school, who died Saturday in the Tift County Hospital after a brief illness. The officiating ministers were Reverends Hollis Pinson, Millard Cutchens, and A.N. Hammond. Interment was in Eastman Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Singleton conducting the final graveside rites. Mr. Jones was born April 20, 1898 in Dodge county, the son of the late John W. Jones and Vixie Peacock Jones. Mrs. Jones was originally from Greenwood, S.C. Mr. Jones was a member of the Baptist Church of Enigma, Dexter Masonic Lodge in Dexter, Ga., the Lions Club, the Men’s Bible Class. He attended Georgia Teachers College, and had been principal of the Enigma School for three years. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Bertha Mae Sheppard of Dexter; a son, Otis Jones, Jr., a student at the University of Georgia; two daughters, Mrs. Lamar Gibson of Waycross and Mrs. E.M. Rozier of Dillon, S.C.; a brother, Woodrow Jones of Greenwood, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Alvin Davis, Mrs. Mary Campbell and Mrs. Velma Conley, all of Greenwood, and Mrs. Willie Giddens of Eastman, and three grandchildren. Pallbearers at the funeral were: Maurice McMillan, C.W. Gates, Paul Snow, Arthur Cauthen, Paul Smith, Bobby Cauthen, John Dean, and Cooper Sharmon.
