Born March 5, 1931 in Washington, DC to the late Israel and Lucy Cabon Kauffman, he was a retired internal auditor and had been medically discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of sergeant. Survivors include his wife, Teresa Janice Lusher Kauffman of Gainesville; daughter, Susan Nebiker of Stockbridge; son, Michael Kaufmann of Villa Rica; mother-in-law, Naomi Lusher of Nashville; sisters, Denise Mauck of New Port Richey, FL and Yolanda Welch of Sanibel Island, FL; three grandsons. Funeral services were held Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at Bethel/Cross Church with the Revs. Ned Russ, Tye Sorrow and Mark Swain officiating. Michael Kauffman sang "Amazing Grace," accompanied by Ann Metcalf; Sammy Reeves sang "I'll Meet You In the Morning," accompanied by Linda Hall; Ty Sorrow sang "My Country," and the congregation sang "When We All Get to Heaven." Interment with full military honors was in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Les Miller, Jr., Sammy Hall, Elton Singletary, Freddy Hughes.
