Born July 3, 1933 in Berrien County to the late William Heyward and Alma Sirmans Keeffe, he was a farmer and member of Unity United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Berrien High School and the University of Georgia. He was an Army veteran having served as a 1st Lt. with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Division as a tank commander in Fulda, Germany. Survivors include his wife, Latrelle Ganas Keeffe of Nashville; two daughters and sons-in law, Glenda and Lee Ivey of Lakeland and Winnie and Tim Moore of Alapaha; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Rhonda Keeffe of Nashville and Donnie and Mary Keeffe of Lakeland; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Ivey, Keefe Moore, Bob Keeffe, Bryce Keeffe, Kylan Keeffe, Jim Keeffe, one great- granddaughter, Laney Fulgham, one brother-in-law, Billy Creech; two nieces, Judy Hatcher and Margaret Strickland. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Creech and his parents-in-law, Claudie and Irma Lee Ganas. Funeral services were held October 8 at 2 p.m. at Unity United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Crosby officiating. Tony Crosby sang "Amazing Grace," Winston Ganas sang "Beulah Land," and the congregation sang "it is Well With My Soul." Dencie Brogdon played organ music. Interment was in Arabia Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Kevin Thomas, Robert Griner, Ben Pafford, Tim Pafford, Bob Joyce, Larry Moore, Frank Swanson, Ben Warren. Honorary pallbearers were James Lee Herndon, Bruce Mathis, Charles Henry Lee, Virgil Moore, Jay Shaw, Joe Brogdon, Jimmy Mancil, Bob Rice, Tommy Lee, Roy Carter.
