Born August 2, 1941 in Berrien County to the late Lucious John and Dolly Griner Kent, he was a farmer and was employed for 25 years with Perkins Farms and Tobacco Warehouses. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Martha Jo Griner Kent of Nashville; two daughters, Kay Partin of Nashville and Heather Bryan of Warner Robins; one son, Joe Allen Kent of Nashville; two sisters, Wanda Duvall of Jacksonville, FL and Sandy Rodgers of Woodbridge, VA; one brother, Thomas Kent of Nashville; five grandchildren. Funeral services were held October 4 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Mickey Lindsey and Phillip Simmons officiating. Musical selections included "Go Rest High on that Mountain," "Beulah Land" and "I'll Meet You in the Morning." Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Active pallbearers were David Dampier, Kevin King, Terry Harper, Carson Perkins, Donnie Brogdon, Junior McGee. Honorary pallbearers were Buck Nix, Maurice Burnsed, Jimmy Fulp, Leroy Harper, Eston Dennis, Gene Luke, Junior Watts, Eugene Baldree, Johnny Ross, Jonathan Fort, Dane Perkins, Jimmy Lane, Raymond Grimes, Gene Kent.
