Kent, 67, of Rt. 1, Nashville, died suddenly at Berrien County Hospital at 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday. He was a native of Berrien County and had lived here all his life. His parents were the late William F. and Alepha Pafford Kent. Mr. Kent was a member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher. He served in the U.S. Army from 1923 to 1926 and was a retired school teacher and farmer. Survivors include his wife, who was the former Miss Pauline Sirmons; four daughters, Mrs. Jacqueline Futch, Mrs. Elva Shaw, Mrs. Gail Guest all of Nashville, Mrs. Shirley McCoy of Rencon; two sons, Wendell Kent and Gene Kent, Nashville; three sisters, Mrs. Mack Mathis and Mrs. Louise Moore of Lakeland, Mrs. Annie Watson of Nashville; three brothers, Sineath Kent of Lakeland, L.J. Kent of Pearson, Martin Kent of Nashville; 18 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church and rites will be conducted by the Rev. Julian Rowan and the Rev. Fred Hesters. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Hughes-Polk Funeral Home handled arrangements.
