Mr. King was born on Nov. 11, 1940, in Berrien County. He was the son of Lewis King and Alma Watson King, both deceased. He was retired after serving as fire chief and director of public works with the City of Nashville. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, a member of the Mason Duncan Lodge 234 F&AM and a member of the Shriner Hasan Temple. He enjoyed farming the King home place. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Fulp King of Nashville; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Angela and Barry McMillan of Alapaha, Sonya and Rick Shiver of Nashville, Melissa King of Nashville and Karla and Mark Spahn of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin King and Bill and Darlene Bailey, all of Nashville; two sisters, Anita Nix of Bainbridge and Janice Howze of Savannah; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Andrea, Savana, Amber, Dillon, Shye, Zack and Jared; and four great-grandchildren, Dawson, Madison, Keade Keaden and Murphy. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Flat Creek Baptist Church with with the Rev. Mickey Lindsey and the Rev. Bill Watson officiating. The church choi choir sang "This Little Light of mine," Buck Warren sang "Long Black Train," and and Phyllis Boyd sang "Amazing Grace," Tammy Kent served as pianist. Burial will follow at Flat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends fro from 7 until 9 tonight at Lovein Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Lamar King, Simmie King, Earl Powell, Gene Luke, Je Jeffery Fulp, Jimmy Fulp. Honorary pallbearers were James King, Tommy Jean King, Johnny King, Sonny Nix, P Paul Howze, Bobby Watson, Dump Watson, Thomas Parr, Larry Sizemore, Wayne D Davis, Darrell Watson, Ferrell Fulp, Gene Baldree, Tommy Morris, Dawson Mathis; m members of the Nashville Fire Department and Duncan Lodge #234 F&AM. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions can be made to the Nas Nashville Fire Department.
