Born November 20, 1950 in Cook County to Betty Shaw Hughes of Nashville and the late Marcus Newton Hughes, she was a homemaker and member of Nashville First Baptist Church and Nashville Post VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors, in addition to her mother; include a Daughter, Mary Catherine Scott Rea of Lumberton, TX; one sister, Lou Harris of Dickinson, TX; one Brother, Newt Hughes of Nashville; one grandson. Funeral services were held November 7 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Richard Williams and Billy Southerland officiating. Deborah Boyd sang "The King is Coming," "How Great Thou Art," and "Because He Lives" accompanied by Teresa Holliday. Interment was in Westview Cemetery. Active pallbearers were David Akins, Wendell Roberts, Ashley Lane, Scott Fender, Daniel Ford, Revis Griffis. Honorary pallbearers were Lamar Gray, Russell Harrelson, Gary Nelms, Quincy McMillan, Roger Cachu, Buddy Rogers, Ray Bozeman, Tony Price, Mike Dennis, Sheriff Jerry Brogdon and deputies and employees of the Berrien Co.
