Knight, Father of Mrs. J.S. Stallings, Passes Lewis Ansil Knight, 83, pioneer resident of South Georgia, died Monday morning at 3:30 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.S. Stallings, in the New Lois section. His death resulted from weakness occasioned by his advanced age. He was confined to his bed only a short time before he passed away. Funeral services were conducted this morning (Thursday) at 11 o’clock at Cat Creek Church in Lowndes County. Elder Duncan McCranie of Cook County conducted the last rites. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pall-bearers were six grandsons, R.A. Stallings, L.R. Stallings, Randall Knight, Jack Jones, Malcom Horne, Loren Horne. Mr. Knight was born in Lowndes County on May 5, 1856, and for many years was a prominent farmer in that section. He later moved to Cook County, near Cecil. For the past several years he had made his home in Berrien County with his daughter. His wife, the former Miss Mary Edmondson, passed away five years ago. He was faithful to the faith of the Primitive Baptist Church, and during his lifetime had rendered valuable services to the church. He was widely known in this section and had a number of friends scattered throughout the counties in the southern part of the state. Survivors include four daughters, two sons, and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His children are Mrs. J.S. Stallings, Nashville; Mrs. Beulah Vickers, Whigham; Mrs. Warren Jones, Valdosta; Mrs. Pearl Horne, Valdosta; Otis Knight, Adel; Chester L. Knight, Rochester, N.Y.
