Born August 31, 1919 in Cook County to the late Reuben and Pearlie Griffin Knowles, he was a retired shipping clerk with Production Anodizing. He was a member of Vickers Church and an Army veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by a son, Dwain Knowles. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Virginia Connell Knowles of Nashville; two daughters, Bobbie Welch of Adel and Betty Sue Jones of Nashville; one son, Edward Knowles of Valdosta; one sister, Evie Wells of Nashville; one brother, Allen Knowles of Nashville; six grandchildren, Dwain Knowles, Dawn Boling, Amy Strickland, Randy Welch, Michael Jones, Brian Jones, 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 15 at 2 p.m. at Vickers Church with Rev. Ronnie Lawson officiating Austin Edwards sang "Long Black Train," Greg Shoupe sang "Go Rest High on that Mountain," the church choir sang "When I Travel the Last Mile." Interment was in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dwain Knowles, Michael Jones, Brian Jones, Kevin Strickland, Christopher Boling, Zach Boling, Austin Edwards, Zack Edwards, Randy Welch.
