She was born on Oct. 10, 1926, in Berrien County to Joe and Leola Akridge Cowart. She was a homemaker and member of Empire Primitive Baptist Church. She was the widow of Johnny Ethridge Lancaster who died March 11, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Aline Hendley. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jean and Dewayne Lanier, Susan and Tommy Nelms, Judy and Doug Rutland, all of Nashville, Sandra and Terry Hansford, Valdosta; four sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Joyce Lancaster Jr., Valdosta, Daryel and Linda Lancaster, Larry and Teresa Lancaster, Randy and Marilyn Lancaster, all of Nashville; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Godwin, Louise Hendley, both of Adel; and four brothers, Albert Cowart, Ben Cowart, both of Adel, Herbert Cowart, Monroe, NY and Glenn Cowart of Adel, Johnny Cowart, Adel. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Empire Primitive Baptist Church with Elder J.L. Rowan, the Rev. Stan Stalvey and the Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Burial will be held in Empire Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville was in charge of arrangements.
