Born May 4, 1920 in Coffee County to the late Homer D. and Lonnie McKinnon Gillis, she was a homemaker and retired secretary with the Department of Family and Children Services. She was a member of Nashville First Baptist Church and was married to the late Strozier Lang. She served with the U.S. Navy (Waves) during WWII from 1943-1946. Survivors include two sons, Homer Lang of Nashville and Wade Lang of Bainbridge; one sister, Louise Tritt of Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held February 17 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Southerland, Jackson Moore and Thomas Clayton officiating. Musical selections included "Amazing Grace," "The Navy Hymn" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." Interment was in Sweetwater Cemetery in Pearson. Active pallbearers were Frank Sutton, Joe Lloyd, Dr. Hank Decker, Dan Taylor, David DeLoach, Billy Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Emmitt Lewis, Hank Nix, Thomas Parr, Charlie Grant. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
