Born May 23, 1941 in Berrien County to the late Tommy Tillman and Corrie Mae Ray Lanier, he was a farmer and member and deacon of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Lancaster Lanier of Nashville; one daughter, Jeana Lanier of Nashville; five sons and daughters-in-law, David (Joyce) of Lakeland, Tony (Teresa) Lanier of Ocilla, Darron (Robbin) Lanier, Todd (Reese) Lanier and Bryan (Regina) Lanier all of Nashville; two brothers, Bill Lanier of Houston, TX and Roy Gene Lanier of Nashville; 10 grandchildren, T.J., Justin, Maygan, Josh, Sara, Mackinzie, Hunter, Sam, Isaac, and Lindsey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alton Lanier. Funeral services were held March 17 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Stan Stalvey, John Hendley and Mickey Lindsey officiating. Angie Cornelius sang "Amazing Grace" at the cemetery and Buck Warren and Teresa Royals sang "Beulah Land." Taped musical selection included "Prettiest Flowers" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain." Interment was in Empire Cemetery. Active pallbearers were David Lanier, Tony Lanier, Darron Lanier, Todd Lanier, Bryan Lanier, and Keith Corbin. Honorary pallbearers were Josh Lanier, Justin Lanier, T.J. Lanier, Johnny Lancaster, Larry Ray, Melvin Morris, Roy Lanier, Jr., Wayne Cook, Henry Ford, Wendell Ford, Buddy Cook, Howard Ray and Willie Heath. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
