Leggett, 82, died February 19, 2007 in Jacksonville, FL. The son of the late Horace and Cloie Elizabeth Cook Legette of Nashville, he was a long time resident of Jacksonville, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed for many years with BB McCormick and Sons, Jacksonville Beach, and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was married to the late Millie Clayton Leggett and in addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Waunell Graham. Survivors include his son, Jerry L. Leggett ( Suzanne) daughters, Sherry Hutton, Mary Conley, Patricia Ashcraft (Butch) and Susan Mathes; sisters, Lautrell Gibbs and Linda Jackson (Bill); aunts, Jessie B. Cook Gilliard of Waycross, Jean Cook Speckert of Callahan, FL, Donna Cook Nelms, Clarice C. Hamilton Gilliard and Janice C. Sayyah, all of Nashville; 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held February 24 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, Orange Park, FL. Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
