He was a son of the late Alford and Katie Minter Lewis and was born Jan. 21, 1913, in Berrien Co. He was of Methodist faith, a Veteran of WWII, and was a farmer. He is survived by his wife , Mrs. Della O'Neal Lewis of Alapaha; two daughters, Mrs. Leola McMillan, Alapaha and Mrs. Naomi Morgan, Valdosta; one son, George Lewis, FL; one sister, Mrs. Alta Holliman, Fitzgerald; and one half-sister, Mrs. Hazel Harrell of Willacoochee; 13 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, May 18, 1979, 3 p.m. at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Alapaha. The Revs. Charles Webster, Jim Duvall and Jeff Floyd officiated with interment in the church cemetery. The Carter Cribb family of Willacoochee furnished music. Active pallbearers were, Ethridge O'Neal, Ferris Hayes, Carl Hayes, Willie Hayes, Lucious Jacobs and Roger Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Sirmans, O. J. Parker, Lacey Paulk, James Carter, Amos Wingate and Wilbur Corbitt. Sims Funeral Home of Pearson handled arrangements. Additional Comments: This is my step-grandfather He was my grandmother, Della O'Neal 2nd Husband her 1st husband was Frank E. Luke. The 2 daughters are his step-daughters. They are by Frank & Della. He always treated them like they were his daughters.
