Born September 27, 1916 in Berrien County to the late Walter Henry and Delia Taylor Hughes, she was a homemaker and member of Oakey Grove Primitive Baptist Church. She was married to the late Jesse Columbus Lewis, Jr. She was also preceded in death by a son, William Henry Lewis, a sister, Ethel Harris, and three brothers, T.C. Hughes, L.D. Hughes, W.H. Hughes. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Ann Page of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter in law, Dorothy Jean Lewis of Lake Park; one sister, Irene Rowe of Nashville; one brother, W.E. Hughes of Nashville; six grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three step-great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held September 30 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Revs. Vernon Hughes and Glynn Rowell officiating. CD music included "Some Glad Tomorrow," "Almost Home," "Far Side Banks of Jordan" and "Amazing Grace." Interment was in Empire Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.C. Meeler, Hunter Lewis, Trent Hughes, Walt Miley, Jesse Miley, Bill Miley. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
