Lindsey of the Ray City section died Tuesday morning at a Valdosta hospital, following a gunshot wound which he received Monday afternoon at about 6 o’clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. T.R. Cox of near Ray City. It is said that Mr. Lindsey stated before he died that a gun which he held in his hands fired and that it was entirely accidental. The load took effect in the left thigh and severed a large artery, death coming from loss of blood and shock, according to doctors attending the wounded man. Immediately following the shooting he was rushed to a Valdosta hospital by the Tygart ambulance, death coming at about 8:30 p.m. The deceased was 32 years of age, was born and reared at McRae, and for the past several years had been living with his sister at Ray City. He was a World War veteran and since has been suffering from gas and other injuries which he received in the war. The funeral service was held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Cox home near Ray City in charge of Rev. A.H. Giddens of this city. Interment followed in the Nashville cemetery at about 4:30 o’clock. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. T.R. Cox. Names of other relatives were not available.
