Little Vickey Lindsey ran in front of a truck and was killed. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Tift General Hospital according to Berrien County Sheriff Walter J. Gaskins quoting Deputy Jerry Brogdon, who investigated the 6:20 accident. Mrs. Carl Pafford, a neighbor at the supper, still very distraught over the tragedy on Monday, said she and her husband were getting out of their car and were not four feet from the scene. “We could have almost reached out and picked her from the road,” she said. “But it all happened so fast.” According to several neighbors, it was the saddest thing they had ever witnessed, not only for the child but for another neighbor, Ethan Bennett, who was driving the truck. No charges have been filed against the elderly Mr. Bennett, as he was only driving about 10 miles per hour. Vickey was the daughter of Talmadge and Linda Fay Henderson Lindsey of Route 2, Nashville.
