Durden dawned@dishmail.net January 17, 2008, 11:58 pm The Nashville Herald, Nashville, Berrien Co., GA The Nashville Herald: Frank Luke, Well known Alapaha Man, passed away Monday. Frank Luke, well known farmer of the Alapaha section, passed away Monday evening at 9:30 o'clock at his home after an illness of three months. He was 45 years of age. The deceased was born and reared near Alapaha, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lem Luke, and had lived all of his life in that section. He was married to the former Miss Della O'Neal in 1926. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11:00 o'clock from St. Luke church, Alapaha, conducted by Rev. Julian Rowan. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Giddens Funeral Home of Nashville had charge of arrangements. A mixed choir sang three songs, "Precious Memories", "Farther Along" and "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be." The pall-bearers were Paul Luke, Herbert Luke, Fleming Luke, Ferris Hayes, Willie Rowe and Cleo Jacobs. Surviving besides his widow are two daughters, Mrs. Leola McMillan of Willacoochee, and Mrs. Naomi Morgan of Jacksonville; four brothers, J. L. Luke, Mark Luke and Pearl Luke of Alapaha, and Shade Luke of Lakeland, also one granddaughter. Additional Comments: I was the granddaughter. I was just a couple of months old. Frank's mother was Frances Elizabeth Jernigan Luke. She died in childbirth giving birth to twin boys one of which was stillborn. Granddaddy Frank is buried at the head of his twin brother's grave.
