Born Nov. 25, 1900 in Berrien Co., Mrs. Luke was the daughter of the late John David Hendley and Mary Gaskins Hendley. She was the wife of the late Talley Luke and member of the Riverside Baptist Church. Mrs. Luke resided at Route One, Willacoochee. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 4th at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Sims Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Hendley and the Rev. Julian Rowan jointly officiating. Interment followed in the Luke Family Cemetery. Mrs. Osbon Mills, organist, provided special music and accompanied soloist, Mr. Harold Traynham, as he sang. Mrs. Luke is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Waunelle Dockery, Broxton; Mrs. Virginia Moore, Douglas; Mrs. Beatrice Jones, Ocala, FL,; two sons: John B. Luke, Stone Mountain; Thomas T. Luke, Elizabethtown, Ky,; one sister: Mrs. Julian Rowan, Nashville; two brothers: Rev. James Hendley, Alvin Hendley, both of Nashville; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
