  NASHVILLE--Vernie Luke, 74, of 505 Griner St., died Wednesday in the Berrien 
Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.
 She was born in Lowndes Co. and had lived in Nashville most of her life. She 
was a retired nurse's aide and a member of the Flat Creek Missionary Baptist 
Church. She was the widow of Mack J. Luke, who died in 1975.
 She is survived by a daughter, Linda Gaskins, Nashville; a son, Mack Warren 
Luke, Nashville; two sisters, Mary Stone of Nashville; Inez Brooker, 
Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Horace Brantley; Willard Brantley, Leesburg, 
FL; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
 Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Nashville Mission with 
the Rev. Fred Hesters officiating. Burial will be in Flat Creek Cemetery.
  Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville, is in charge of arrangements.
