VALDOSTA -- Vera Luke, 90, of Valdosta passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998 at 
her residence. She was born May 6, 1908 in Cook County to Joseph Warren and 
Georgia Overstreet. She was a homemaker and a member of Brushy Creek Baptist 
Church. She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Evans, Valdosta; two 
grandsons, Tommie and Barbara Evans, Nashville and Jim and Holly Evans, 
Tallahassee, FL; two great grandchildren, Steve Evans, Nashville and Kaitlin 
Evans, Tallahassee. She was the widow of Tommie Luke who died in 1977.
 Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Lovein 
Funeral Home. The Rev. Fred Hesters will officiate. Interment will follow in 
Long Bridge Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today with the family 
receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. The family will be staying at the old home 
place which is the residence of Tommie and Barbara Evans.
