 Isaac K. Luke dies of gunshot wounds
  Marshal of the Town of Enigma is being held in Jail
 Isaac K. Luke, age 65, died at his home three miles north of Enigma Monday afte
after suffering gunshot wounds inflicted Sunday night about 9 o'clock by Mars
Marshal J. C. Jernigan of the town of Enigma.
  According to information given Sheriff Hughes by witnesses and Jernigan, a Neg
Negro was seen to purchase a quantity of liquor from Mr. Luke by Jernigan him
himself and when he started to enter the gate heading to the Luke home to make the
the arrest, Mr. Luke objected and during the struggle the fatal shot was fired. Jer
Jernigan came to Nashville Monday morning and gave himself up to the sheriff and
and is now being Held in the county jail.
  Mr. Luke was a farmer and had been living in the county for the past twenty ye
years. He was born and reared in Irwin Co. He is survived by his widow and ten ch
children all of this county. The family is well known and the untimely death of Mr
Mr. Luke is very much regretted.
  Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at Turner Church in T
Tift Co. Interment followed in the cemetery there.
