 NASHVILLE -- Nell Mathis, 85, of Nashville, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 
Berrien Nursing Center.
 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Vickers Church. The 
Rev. Ronnie Lawson will officiate. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.
 Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. today at Lovein Funeral Home in 
Nashville, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 9 tonight. In lieu of 
flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of Tiftarea or Hospice of 
South Georgia.
 Born Dec. 9, 1917 in Berrien County, Mrs. Mathis was the daughter of Lowell 
Dawson Abell and Nelsie Pickard. She was also preceded in death by her 
husband, the Rev. Marvin Mathis, who died in 1998.
 Mrs. Mathis was a homemaker and a member of Vickers Church.
 She is survived by three sons, Dawson Mathis of Washington, D.C. and 
Nashville, Ronnie Mathis of Fairfax, VA., and Ricky Mathis of Pembroke, N.C.; 
three sisters, Mattie Robinson of Lakeland, FL., Ruth Phagan of Van Buren, 
Ark., and Ann Mayfield of Keystone Heights, FL; three brothers, Julian Abell 
of Enigma, Lonnie Abell of Valdosta and Paul Abell of Nokomis, FL; 10 
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
 Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
