 Jewel Tyson Mathis, 101, of Adel died Feb. 21, 2011 at Memorial Convalescent Ce
Center of Adel.
 Born July 1, 1909 in Adel to the late Matthew "Bose" and Elizabeth Fender T
Tyson, she lived most of her life in Cook County and was a member of Massee B
Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and operator of Mathis Bait Shop in J
Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Coy M
Mathis.
 Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John W. "C.J." and Jean Mathis 
of Jacksonville; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jesse Henderson of Adel; 
six grandchildren and their spouses, Carrol and Tina Mathis, Jeff and Kandie 
Mathis, Scott Mathis all of Jacksonville, Greg and Kimberly Henderson and Pam 
and Curtis Hamilton all of Adel, Frank and Becky Henderson of Auburn, AL; 12 
great-grandchildren, Rachel, Seth Alex, Krista, Jordan and Marleigh Mathis, Sarah,
Sarah, Anna, Meghan and Jacob Henderson and Kyle and Justin Hamilton.
 Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at Massee Baptist Church with Dr
Dr. Stanley Hendricks officiating. Phil and Betty Gibbs sang "Look For Me" an
and "Beyond The Sunset," and David Bryan sang "This World is Not My Home."
 Interment was at Longbridge Church Cemetery in Berrien County.
 Active pallbearers were grandsons, Carrol Mathis, Jeff Mathis, Scott Mathis, 
Greg Henderson, Frank Henderson, Curtis Hamilton. Great-grandchildren served as h
honorary pallbearers.
 Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
