 Virgil Mathis, 69, of Nashville died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at South Georgia 
Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of
Lovein
Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Dukes III officiating. Songs on CD 
included "Let's Meet By the River" and "When I Get Where I'm Going."   Burial 
will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight at Lovein
Lovein Funeral Home.
 Pallbearers were Chris Bradford, Darrell Kilpatrick, Wade Eaton, Eric Eaton, Sc
Scottie Mathis, J.D. Mathis.
  Mr. Mathis was born on Jan. 22, 1942 in Berrien County to the late Reuben M
Mathis and Polly Taylor. He was preceded in death by a son, Chris Mathis, who d
died in 2003 and also two sisters and three brothers. He was retired from N
Nashville Mills and was currently employed with the Georgia Department of T
Transportation. Mr. Mathis was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the U
United States Army.
  Mr. Mathis was survived by his wife, Mary Sutton Mathis of Nashville; a 
daughter, Elissa and her husband Revis Griffis of Nashville; three sisters, 
Ethel Lee Root of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Norma Hall of Warner Robins and Vivian 
Merchant of Marietta; four brothers, L.B. Mathis of Homeland, Fla., Talmadge 
Mathis of Orlando, Fla., Onest Mathis of Stockbridge and Wendell Mathis of 
Rome; and four grandchildren, Logan and Landon Griffis, and De-Ila and Ashley M
Mathis.
  Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
