Born September 8, 1930, in Berrien County, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo Columbus and Tinsie Boyd Williams. A resident of Homeland since 1970, she was a homemaker and longtime member of Main Street Baptist Church in Bartow. Doris graduated from Poplar Springs School in Nashville in 1948. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, her church and spending time with her family and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her brother, J.A. Williams, and twin sister, Dorothy Griner. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, L.B. Mathis, and daughter, Brenda Morton and her husband, Rick, of Winter haven. She also is survived by her brother, Carroll Williams, of Murfreesboro, TN; other survivors include her granddaughter, Meredith Jean Morris and her husband, Matt of Orlando, FL and grandson, Jonathan Richard Morton and his wife, Ashlyn, of Eagle Lake, FL. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 27 at Main Street Baptist in Bartow. Interment was in Glen Abby Memorial Gardens. Condolences to the family at www.whiddenmceanfuneralhome.com.
