  Marie McConnell, 98, of Nashville, died Saturday, November 14, 2015, in the 
Langdale Hospice House.
 She was born September 12, 1917, in Berrien County to the late J. Henry and Toye 
Patten Mathis. She was a retired operations clerk with the former First National 
Bank of Valdosta and a member of the Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She 
was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Nix and Bea Rexer.
 She is survived by three nieces, Billie Ruth Wright, Gay Glover and Jenny Marie 
Whitmoyer; five nephews, Wendell Nix, Emerson Nix, Wilson Nix, Bill Rexer, Jr. and 
Patten Rexer; 16 great-nieces and nephews; 11 great-great nieces and nephews.
 Graveside funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 17 at 2 p.m. at 
Westview Cemetery with the Rev. J.W. Dukes III officiating.
 Memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Church or the Hospice of your choice.
 Lovein Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
