Mr. McMillan had just left his nephew Mr. C.E. McMillan of Alapaha, who was standing only a few feet away when the fatal collision took place. The victim had cranked his car and sat watching a fast train as it passed in front of him and after a short pause proceeded to drive on to the crossing looking in the direction of the train that had recently passed over, not thinking to look to the right, the direction from which the local train was approaching. The engine caught the car under the radiator and threw it backward and along the railroad tracks. Mr. McMillan was picked up by his nephew 45 feet from where he was struck and did not seem to be seriously hurt, even declining to be carried to the A.C.L. hospital at Waycross. He was carried home and after receiving treatment by local physicians seemed in no danger, however, he began suffering in the night and died Friday morning at 5 o’clock. Among other prominent relatives the deceased leaves a brother, Mr. M.J. McMillan, a sister, Mrs. Joe Fletcher, both of Alapaha. Mrs. Tom Purvis of Gladys and Mrs. Bill Martin of Enigma are daughters. The funeral will be held this morning at Turner Church. Mr. McMillan was 76 years of age and a most honored pioneer of this county.
