He was born Oct. 6, 1935 in Brunswick, Ga. to the late John David, Sr. and Lessie (Guthrie) Miley. He helped organize the Ray City Historical Museum. He was an Artist, painting many local scenes. He loved reading and collecting history books and stamps. He was best known in Ray City for touring and visiting many people on his bicycle. One of his greatest joys was sharing the gospel of Jesus with others. He was a devoted and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ray City. He was preceded in death by three step sisters: Lounelle Fountain, Hazel Brantley and Frances Mayo. Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Joe Sizemore of Ray City, Ga. two nephews, Jim Sizemore, Ray City, John Sizemore, Ray City; niece, Lee Ann Stafford, Panama City, Fla.; a number of other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 in the First Baptist Church of Ray City with burial following in New Ramah Cemetery. The family will receive friends and visitors at the church between 10 a.m. and Noon on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008. Music Funeral Services of Lakeland is in charge of arrangements.
