Born January 8, 1918 in Tishomingo Co., Mississippi, to the late Edward and Laura Belle Bynum Strickland, she was a homemaker and retired teacher with the Berrien County School System. She was a member of Alapaha Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Berrien Retired Educators Association and the Triple L Senior Citizens Club. Survivors include two daughters, Norma Gaskins and Joan Drawdy, both of Alapaha; sister, Lourie Allen of Amory, MS; six grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held December 31 at 11 a.m. at Alapaha Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Gibbs, pastor, officiating. A eulogy was given by Mrs. Jean Dixon. Faye Jernigan sang "Amazing Grace" and "Fill My Cup, Lord," accompanied by Darlene Turner, pianist. Interment was in Fletcher Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Wayne Jones, Mike Davis, Matt Davis, Scott Griner, Steven Snipes, James Ware. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Dixon, Jimmy Gaskins, Lincoln Gaskins, Darrell Jernigan, Kenneth Lee, Eddie Owen, Donald Stodghill. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
