He was born on March 17, 1921 in Geneva Co., AL to E. C. Nobles and Birdie Lee. He was a retired engineer with Nashville Mills and a member of Nashville United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of WWII and served with the 741st Tank Battalion. He also served in North Africa and participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Survivors are his wife, Mildred Sutton Nobles of Nashville; two daughters, Penny Rewis of St. Marys and Cynthia Mathis of Albany; one son, William Michael Nobles of Panama City, FL; 4 sisters, Laura Danford of Andalusia, AL, Louise Brown of Richmond, VA, Aletha Richardson of Greenville, SC., and Betty Helms of Richmond, VA; and five grandchildren. Services are to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nashville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Benjy Varnell and the Rev. Junior Swain officiating. Burial will be in Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. today. Lovein Funeral Home is serving the family.
